The Body Shop’s UK market and its UK-based Global Head Office have entered administration, and a sale process for the business began on May 20, 2024. Despite this development, the UK business continues to trade, allowing customers to shop in-store and online.
The Body Shop India, operated by Quest Retail Pvt. Ltd., remains unaffected by the situation in the UK.
“The news that’s been reported relates to the UK (or company-owned markets) only. This does not affect The Body Shop India whatsoever. We are a brand that makes a difference, not only through the products we sell but through the immense popularity of the brand in India and the strength of the community actions we undertake,” Shriti Malhotra, Group CEO of Quest Retail – The Body Shop India said.
“Following the recent developments in the UK, The Body Shop India remains strong, and the news of new ownership is a very positive development for us for the path ahead. With a reinvigorated approach, our investment in Brand expansion, Brand Advocacy and partner growth in India remains immensely strong especially as we launch new retail and quick commerce opportunities, ensuring greater accessibility to customers in India,” Shriti added.
Earlier this year, The Body Shop achieved 100% Vegan certification from The Vegan Society. The Body Shop India, the country’s largest international beauty retailer, continues to expand, reaching over 1500 cities online and opening 20 new Activist Workshop stores recently. The brand has also reported 100% growth in quick commerce.
The Body Shop, founded in 1976 in Brighton, England by Dame Anita Roddick, is known for its high-quality, ethically-produced beauty products. In India, it operates through its partner, Quest Retail, a leader in beauty specialist omni-channel retail and brand development since 2006.
