Menswear brand The Bear House eyes expansion after receiving a major funding boost from Namita Thapar on Shark Tank India…
Contemporary menswear brand The Bear House has secured a ₹3 crore investment on Shark Tank India from Namita Thapar, Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals.
The deal includes ₹1 crore for a 1% equity stake and ₹2 crore as debt, reinforcing the brand’s strong growth trajectory and expansion plans.
Founded in 2017 by Tanvi and Harsh Somaiya, The Bear House has rapidly carved out a niche in India’s premium menswear segment, offering European-inspired smart casuals designed for modern, hybrid work cultures.
With a presence in key cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, the brand is now set to expand into Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai. It expects to surpass ₹140 crore in net revenue this year, achieving over 40% year-on-year (YoY) growth.
With the fresh investment, the brand aims to scale its online and offline presence, invest in strategic marketing, and expand its exclusive brand outlets (EBOs).
A Competitive Pitch and a Strategic Partnership
The investment episode featured renowned Sharks, including Namita Thapar, Anupam Mittal, Aman Gupta, Viraj Bahl, and Kunal Bahl. While Shark Kunal Bahl proposed a ₹3 crore investment for a 3% equity stake at a ₹100 crore valuation, the co-founders ultimately opted for Namita Thapar’s offer, citing its alignment with their business vision.
Namita Thapar, impressed by the brand’s profitability and resilience, remarked, “Your story sounds too good to be true—but it’s not just a story, it’s your reality. That resilience and commitment make me want to believe in you.” Her deal includes a ₹1 crore investment for a 1% equity stake and ₹2 crore as debt at a 10% interest rate, repayable over five years.
Growth Strategy and Market Positioning
The Bear House is a top player in the casual shirts category on Myntra and is also available on Flipkart, Ajio, Tata Cliq, Nykaa, and Amazon. Additionally, it is expanding through collaborations with quick-commerce platforms like Zepto.
With the fresh investment, the brand aims to scale its online and offline presence, invest in strategic marketing, and expand its exclusive brand outlets (EBOs). It recently launched its first EBO at Bhartiya Mall in Bengaluru and plans to roll out more stores across India in the coming months.
A Vision for Modern Menswear
“We built The Bear House with the belief that our product is our brand ambassador,” said Harsh Somaiya, Co-founder of The Bear House. “This investment validates our vision and will help us take our brand to even greater heights.”
Tanvi Somaiya, Co-founder, added, “Being on Shark Tank and earning the trust of the investors is a pivotal moment for us. This investment will fuel our expansion, allowing us to offer Indian men the freedom to express themselves through high-quality smart casuals.”
