Seiko’s Credor marks 50th anniversary with limited-edition Eichi II watch

Seiko’s brand Credor is releasing a special edition of the Eichi II, a timepiece originally launched in 2008 ahead of its 50th anniversary. Eichi II will be available in a limited run of 30 pieces starting June 2024.

It features an 18K yellow-gold clasp, a crocodile strap, dual-curved anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and is designed with water resistance up to 3 bar and magnetic resistance up to 4,800 A/m. The watch measures 39.0 mm in diameter and 10.3 mm in thickness.

The limited-edition model will feature a hand-painted deep blue porcelain dial, inspired by lapis lazuli and known in Japanese as ruri. This design choice introduces a unique domed shape and color variation that changes with light and perspective, due to the surface tension of the porcelain glaze.

Distinctive to this anniversary model is the use of 18K yellow gold for the case, as well as for the detailing over the hand-painted elements on the dial, such as the hour markers and Credor logo. This technique references the historic Ruri-Kinsai craft, enhancing the dial’s visual depth.

Visible through a see-through sapphire crystal case back, the manual-winding Spring Drive Caliber 7R14 movement showcases bespoke components. The movement includes a power reserve of 60 hours supported by a Torque Return System that efficiently utilizes the energy excess when the mainspring is fully wound.

Details such as hand-tempered blue screws and a bellflower motif, symbolizing Shiojiri City where the Micro Artist Studio is based, highlight the craftsmanship. The studio, established in 2000, is known for combining advanced horological technology with traditional techniques, focusing on luxury watch production.
