Pop star Pharrell Williams joins Louis Vuitton as Creative Director, debuts first collection

Louis Vuitton has launched Pharrell Williams’ first collection globally. The American pop star was appointed Men’s Creative Director last February for LVMH’s flagship brand and customers have been waiting eagerly for the drop of his very first collection for Spring-Summer 2024, which was shown on the Pont-Neuf in Paris in June 2023.

Notable pieces on show include designs featuring Damoflage, the digitised Damier checkerboard pattern and monogram motif that Williams is known for and which he had developed in a pixelated military camouflage version.

Louis Vuitton has opened a SoHo pop-up celebrating the collection. Accessories, jewelry, leather goods, luggage, ready-to-wear, shoes, and trunks are available at the shop, while a second location down the street will offer an appointment-only experience. The pop-up will be open from January 4 through mid-March with a second drop of goods coming on February 8, 2024.

In Paris, the collection can be seen at the Louis Vuitton flagship store on 100, avenue des Champs-Elysées. In London, Louis Vuitton has taken over the highly coveted Selfridges space, The Corner Shop, where it has recreated the Pont-Neuf with cubes imitating the checkerboard pattern until February 7.

Additional activations have been planned by Louis Vuitton over the next three months in more than 50 LV boutiques, temporary spaces and department stores.

The official Louis Vuitton website describes Pharrell Williams as a visionary whose creative universes expand from music to art, and to fashion – ‘establishing himself as a cultural global icon over the past twenty years. The way in which he breaks boundaries across the various worlds he explores, aligns with Louis Vuitton’s status as a Cultural Maison, reinforcing its values of innovation, pioneer spirit, and entrepreneurship’.

“I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter,” Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO had said last year.
