US-based apparel and footwear giant New Balance has expanded its retail footprint in India with the launch of its first store in Kerala. Located in the bustling LuLu Mall in Kochi, Kerala’s commercial hub, the store marks a significant milestone for the brand.
Anjali Solomon, retail leasing representative at LuLu Mall, shared the announcement on LinkedIn, stating, “Excited to announce the grand opening of Kerala’s first New Balance store,” accompanied by images of the sleek retail space.
The new outlet showcases New Balance’s signature collection of performance and lifestyle footwear and apparel, featuring advanced proprietary technologies such as Fresh Foam X and FuelCell, which cater to athletes and casual wearers alike.
Earlier in November the brand had expanded its retail footprint with a new store in Phoenix Marketcity, Pune.
Founded in 1906 by William J. Riley as the New Balance Arch Support Company, the brand initially focused on arch supports and accessories to enhance shoe comfort and fit. Over the years, it evolved into a global leader in athletic footwear and apparel.
New Balance first entered the Indian market in the early 2000s but paused operations shortly thereafter. The brand re-entered in 2016 through a distribution partnership with Mumbai-based The Major Brands Group, opening its first store at DLF Mall of India, Noida. In 2022, the company further cemented its presence with the establishment of its India subsidiary.
The Kochi store opening underscores New Balance’s commitment to expanding its reach and strengthening its presence in India’s growing sportswear market.
