Meesho sees 70% growth in fashion, beauty, and personal care segment in 2024

Meesho has reported a 35% year-on-year increase in orders, with fashion retail emerging as a key driver of this growth. The platform has seen a significant rise in demand for affordable fashion and accessories, particularly in Tier 2+ towns, reflecting the expanding adoption of e-commerce in smaller cities. Categories such as fashion, beauty, and personal care contributed to a 70% year-on-year order growth, with Meesho Mall seeing a 117% increase in orders for branded fashion products.

Meesho’s user base now includes 175 million annual transacting users, with nearly half of them coming from Tier 4+ towns like Naidupeta, Sherghati, and Harapanahalli. The platform has retained its position as India’s most-downloaded shopping app for the fourth consecutive year, surpassing 210 million downloads in 2024.

Fashion retailers on Meesho have seen substantial growth. Leading brands such as Lotus, Joy, Renee, and Dollar have benefited from the growing demand for affordable and high-quality fashion options. These brands experienced significant growth, with Lotus seeing a 6X increase in orders, Joy 5.5X, and Renee 3.5X.

Gen Z has emerged as a major consumer segment for Meesho, accounting for one-third of its user base. The generation’s preference for trendy, affordable fashion has contributed to the rise in demand for clothing, accessories, and footwear. Meesho has noted a surge in orders for products aligned with Gen Z’s values, including eco-friendly fashion items like reusable straws, sustainable clothing, and self-care products such as makeup wipes and resistance bands.

To cater to Gen Z’s shopping habits, Meesho is leveraging Generative AI to create a personalized and intuitive shopping experience. The platform launched India’s first large-scale multilingual AI-powered voice bot, which offers personalized fashion recommendations and helps users navigate the platform with ease. The AI-driven shopping experience is particularly beneficial for first-time buyers in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, providing product recommendations and vernacular search options.

The platform has also implemented AI to improve the fashion retail shopping experience by offering personalized notifications, product recommendations, and vernacular voice search. These innovations have enhanced user engagement, contributing to a significant boost in orders across Meesho’s fashion categories.

As part of its commitment to customer trust, Meesho’s Project Vishwas initiative has prevented millions of fraudulent transactions, ensuring a secure and reliable shopping experience for fashion consumers across India.
