India, August 2023 – Studio Ghibli’s iconic film, Princess Mononoke, released in 1997, captivated Japanese audiences and shattered box office records; becoming a timeless masterpiece cherished worldwide for its breathtaking animation and enduring environmental themes. Embodying a shared dedication to craftsmanship, Levi’s® and Studio Ghibli now collaborate to present the enchanting Princess Mononoke Collection.
Hayao Miyazaki, renowned for his passion and attention to even the subtlest details in animation, explores the complex relationship between humanity and nature in the film. The Levi’s® x Princess Mononoke collection draws inspiration from the film’s mesmerizing landscapes and mystical characters, encapsulating the essence of the forest and its interconnected ecosystem.
Featuring the San & Wolf Trucker Jacket, Ashitaka 501® ’93 Jeans, and San & Moro 501® Shorts, the denim pieces artfully integrate the film’s forest and sun background. Complementing the darker indigo pieces, the Nightwalker Denim Kimono Jacket and Kodama Denim Overall evoke the characters’ environments. Graphic tees and hoodies pay homage to the film’s characters and ideologies, mirroring the rhythmic juxtaposition between tranquility and action seen in the movie.
Completing the collection are Princess Mononoke inspired accessories, including a Western-American Levi’s® bandana adorned with San’s mystical red battle mask, the Ancient Forest Bucket Hat, and a San & Ashitaka Tote featuring both iconic characters. Two coin bags showcasing San’s mask and a Kodama face add a final touch to the collection.
