FibreTrace partners with Thai Acrylic Fibre to drive transparency in textile supply chains

Pioneering technology company FibreTrace has entered into a new partnership with Thai Acrylic Fibre (TAF), one of the world’s top five acrylic fibre producers, to incorporate its traceability technology into TAF’s acrylic fibre production. This collaboration will see FibreTrace’s technology integrated into TAF’s Regel recycled fibre, creating a ‘digital passport’ that tracks the fibre through every stage of its lifecycle—from raw fibre to finished garment.

Thai Acrylic Fibre, a division of the Aditya Birla Group, is a major player in the global textile industry, particularly in the field of sustainable fibre manufacturing. With this partnership, TAF is embedding FibreTrace’s non-toxic, zero-impact identification marker directly into its fibres. This invisible marker, similar to a hidden barcode, remains intact throughout the entire production process, even as the fibre is dyed, spun into yarn, or turned into fabric and garments. At any point in the supply chain, the marker can be scanned, allowing brands to verify the fibre’s origin and trace its journey from production to retail.

FibreTrace’s technology provides a unique level of transparency in the textile supply chain by enabling real-time physical verification of products. The integration with Regel recycled fibre ensures that every piece of textile using this fibre can be tracked back to its source, giving both brands and consumers confidence in the fibre’s provenance.

“We are proud to partner with Thai Acrylic Fibre – one of the largest and most sustainably progressive acrylic producers in the world. They are the 5th largest producer and the 2nd largest exporter of acrylic fibre worldwide and have been instrumental in rigorously testing our technology, ensuring successful integration and pigment invisibility during the production of their Regel recycled fibre. It is a true testament to both companies’ commitment to providing a more sustainable future for fashion, giving brands and consumers the confidence that every fibre is traceable and responsibly sourced,” said Danielle Statham, Founder of FibreTrace.

Tuhin Kulshreshtha, VP of Business Development at Thai Acrylic Fibre, echoed this sentiment, emphasising the importance of transparency in the textile industry, “Sustainability and transparency are at the core of our business, and partnering with FibreTrace allows us to take this commitment to the next level. By integrating the FibreTrace technology into our Regel recycled fibre, we are providing our customers with an unparalleled level of trust and accountability across the entire supply chain, which we believe is essential for the future of the textile industry.”

The collaboration marks the start of an ongoing relationship between FibreTrace and TAF, with plans to extend the use of FibreTrace technology into other product lines in the future. Both companies are committed to advancing transparency and sustainability across the global textile supply chain, providing traceability solutions that help reduce environmental impact and meet growing consumer demand for responsible sourcing.
