Delhi Jewellery & Gem Fair 2024 sees record participation with over 150,000 designs

B2B event organiser in India, Informa Markets successfully concluded the 12th edition of the Delhi Jewellery & Gem Fair (DJGF) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This year’s event was the largest in its history, featuring over 650 exhibitors and showcasing more than 150,000 unique jewellery pieces from 700 brands, including both traditional and contemporary designs.

The fair highlighted a wide variety of materials such as gold, silver, diamonds, pearls, and gemstones, along with innovations in jewellery design and production technologies. A notable feature was the DJGF Silver Show, located in Hall No. 2, which displayed a range of silver jewellery, alongside significant collections of gold, Polki, and diamond jewellery from prominent brands in the natural loose diamond sector.

The event attracted over 25,000 industry professionals, serving as a key platform for jewellers, import-export merchants, and industry stakeholders in anticipation of the festive season, including Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali, and wedding season, which sees increased demand for jewellery.

The inauguration featured several dignitaries, including Mr. Pramod Derewala, Chairman of NGJIC; Mr. Naveen Kumar, Chairman of TBJA; Mr. Ashok Sheth, Regional Chairman (North India) for GJEPC; and Ms. Nirupa Bhatt, a leading industry expert, among others.

Mr. Pramod Derewala commented on the event’s significance, stating, “The role of marketing and design in driving our industry’s growth cannot be overstated. I applaud the government’s initiatives, which have given a tremendous boost to our sector. I also commend the organizers for spotlighting silver and promoting handcrafted jewellery, encapsulating India’s rich cultural heritage.”

Ms. Nirupa Bhatt noted the importance of the Retail Jewellers Guild Awards, highlighting the Shakti recognition for women’s contributions to the industry, which she described as vital to the sector’s evolution.

Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director of Informa Markets in India, remarked, “The Delhi Jewellery & Gem Fair captures the dynamism and innovation that define India’s jewellery industry. With gem and jewellery imports soaring to US$ 1.55 billion in June 2024, this year’s edition showcased designs reflecting India’s rich heritage and the industry’s growing global influence.”

The theme ‘Celebrating Craftsmanship and Innovation’ emphasised the blend of traditional artistry with modern techniques. Attendees engaged in panel discussions on topics such as ‘Women in Power, Women Empower,’ and ‘The Future of Responsible Sourcing: Challenges and Opportunities,’ while presentations covered customer experience, retail trends, and opportunities in the gems and jewellery export sector.

Prominent thought leaders and influencers contributed to the discussions, including jewellery designer Hetal Vakil, NYUZ founder Navin Sadarangani, and social media influencer Prerna Makharia.

The DJGF also hosted the Retail Jewellers Guild Awards, honouring outstanding jewellery retailers across various categories, and featured a Fashion Show Night to showcase pioneering brands. The event culminated in the SHAKTI ceremony, which celebrated women’s contributions to the jewellery industry.

As part of Informa Markets in India’s 5th ‘Festivity of Business’ campaign, the DJGF aligned with a series of signature events running from September to December, fostering connections and collaboration within the industry. The fair underscored the artistry and innovation at the heart of India’s jewellery industry while promoting the collaborative spirit that drives its global impact.
