Birla Cellulose launches Circular Yarn Blend with 50% mechanically recycled fiber

Birla Cellulose, a division of the Aditya Birla Group specializing in environmentally conscious Man-Made Cellulosic Fibers (MMCF), has launched a new Circular Yarn Blend that contains 50% mechanically recycled fiber. This blend maintains high-strength yarn and is suitable for fabric and garment production across various categories.

The Circular Yarn Blend is recognized by the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) for PCW (Pre- and post-consumer Waste) materials, the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS), FSC certification, and High Index certification. It incorporates blockchain technology for full traceability, transparency, and accountability throughout the supply chain.

This innovative yarn blend addresses several environmental concerns in the textile industry. The mechanical recycling process minimizes energy consumption, is eco-friendly, and has the lowest greenhouse gas emissions, reducing the carbon footprint. It also ensures minimal water usage throughout its lifecycle. The in-situ coloration of the yarn eliminates the need for additional dyes or pigments, further reducing its environmental impact.

ManMohan Singh, Chief Marketing Officer, Birla Cellulose expressed the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility saying Birla Cellulose aims to encourage the textile industry to adopt more sustainable options, meeting consumer demand while upholding the highest quality standards and sustainable practices.

Pioneer in Sustainable Fibers

Birla Cellulose recycles mechanical textile waste using advanced technology, blending it with Birla’s proprietary cellulosic fibers. As a pioneer in sustainable fibers, the company offers Viscose, Modal, and Lyocell, known for their softness and comfort.

The company prioritizes environmental protection and minimizes its carbon footprint through eco-friendly manufacturing methods.
