Watch brand Seiko 5 Sports has introduced a new watch series dubbed ‘SNXS’, an evolution of its heritage line. This latest addition is inspired by its SNXS sports watch, redesigned with an Everyday Carry (EDC) concept in mind, ensuring the watch is suitable for daily use while maintaining its distinctive aesthetics and functionality.
The new series preserves the original’s unique case shape and the discreet placement of the small crown at the 4 o’clock position to maintain the case’s sleek profile. However, it incorporates several enhancements to both design and functionality.
A notable feature across the series is the inclusion of a sporty dial available in navy, black, and ivory options, each adorned with an orange seconds hand—a nod to a design element prevalent in many 5 Sports watches from the 1970s. The hour and minute hands are multi-faceted, designed to catch and reflect light, ensuring visibility and a bold aesthetic. Visibility is further enhanced by Lumibrite coating on the 11 bar indexes and the hour and minute hands.
The series boasts a case designed with a low center of gravity, promising a more comfortable wear experience. The case is finished with contrasting hairline and mirror polishes, adding a layer of sophistication and perceived quality. A newly developed metal bracelet accompanies each watch, offering a blend of contemporary and retro appeal that aligns with the series’ overall design ethos.
