From designers to college-goers, there would hardly be anyone with whom denims don’t find favour. Jeans are like the comfort food of clothing for bollywood’s best dressed too and they wouldn’t mind trading their designer robes for a pair of good well-fitted jeans. Here they shoot off their denim pockets.

I don’t wash my jeans for a month because they’re more comfortable to wear that way. My mom and Saif are sick of this habit. In fact, I sleep better on a flight in a pair that’s really worn in. I have some 40 pairs stashed away in my closet, some even dating back to my 24-inch waist. However I don’t like my denims to be really tight and leg-hugging. The slight flair, the hint of a retro boot is my favourite. Jeans can take you from effortless chic to high fashion depending on how you wear them.

A classy blue pair of jeans and a slim-fit white shirt is my idea of style – and I think I am doing just fine. Rick Springfield and Bruce Springsteen are my ultimate style icons because they wear white t-shirts and blue jeans. My wife tells me I have more than a thousand pairs, hence I haven’t bought new jeans in the past five years. So, when you see my torn jeans, they aren’t designer wear, they’ve just worn off. I am very finicky when I buy my denims. If I like a pair of jeans, I buy two or three of the same kind. I have a fetish about the fit of my jeans and the denim needs to be soft and not too hard and rough. And yes, I’m judgmental about guys who wear skinny jeans. Jeans have to be loose. I get put off by ill-fitting jeans. In Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, the jeans were uncomfortable. I used to take it off and wear my own after the shot was over. I think I went bananas over my denims while shooting for Om Shanti Om as I could wear jeans from two time periods, retro and now. I kept all the pairs for myself!

In my movies, I have always tried to dress like a common man. There is nothing better than a pair of regular jeans for cool simplicity. But the denim must be combed and very soft. I prefer my jeans loose and low-waisted. It is even better if they are distressed. I like to accessorize my jeans with chunky belts. I am also very fond of the denim-on-denim look – but it always has to be dark denim jeans and light denim jackets or shirts. I have worn jeans in almost all of my films right from Maine Pyar Kiya to Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya and that just jeans bare-chested trend really caught on. You must try the denims from teh Being Huma collection – they are my type of jeans – just th way I like them.

Denim is supremely versatile; it comes in the widest possible range of styles, cuts and shades – isn’t that your answer to every ‘I-have-nothing-to-wear’ moment! Whenever I face any such issue, that’s what I do – pick up my favourite distressed denims and pair them with fun motif tees and sky-high heels. I like the punk rock look and experiment with denims to achieve that. When in doubt, wear denim. When in doubt over denims, stick to tried and tested combos. But for me, whether denim shorts, skirts or jeans – the distressed look just make me go weak in the knees.

Oh I could live in my jeans, I mean literally! My jeans are like second skin to me. I like my jeans paired with anything – jackets, tees, gangis, and even just as they are! They just have to feel like I am not wearing them! I like Roadster, not just because I am endorsing the brand – but for the amazing relaxed fits they produce. I also like Calvin Klein. There is no such thing as too many jeans. I have about four dozen pairs and I could do with just about as many more.

I love a classic style. A white shirt-blue jeans combo tops my list of classics. With an outfit like blue jeans with a crisp white shirt and a tan belt, you can never go wrong. I’m most comfortable in jeans. They’re great to wear out to party, paired with a sparkly top, jacket and black high heels, but you can also wear them during the day with just a pair of flats and they still look great. I own about 45 pairs, with a mix of all styles, including skinny, boyfriend fit and straight fit. I love J Brand and Elliott – I have four pairs of Elliott boyfriend jeans at the moment – and I am eyeing this amazing peach-skin one from the new collection.

I cannot do without my denims, jumpers and tees. My stylist tells me I can carry off carrot jeans very well — they’re slouched at the waist and narrow at the bottom – because of my frame. I don’t know if it is a good thing or bad, but the fit is incredibly comfortable. I also like bleached and charcoal grey shades and love pairing my denims with basic tees and check over-shirts.
Sonakshi Sinha
I am in love with the tattered look. I like my denims ‘hippie-style’. Give me a pair of ‘phatta hua jeans’ and I will be more than glad to slip into it and team it with a pair of funky and chunky shoes. But for a glamorous look, I like coloured jeans with stilettoes

The best thing about denim is that they defy the ‘what’s in and what’s out’ fads that change every week. I have been wearing jeans for as long as I can remember – though they were not that visible on film stars before the late 70s. My first salary went in buying a really good pair of Levi’s that I still have somewhere in my house – of course I wouldn’t be able to fit an arm in it now. My favourite is a top-to-toe denim look with a loose denim shirt and a great fitting pair of jeans. I used to quarrel with a friend of mine who would refer to jeans as ‘pants’. Arre bhidu, the fit of jeans is different from a fit of pants. Pants can never be what jeans are! I was thrilled to bits when I modelled for Avis jeans and have a very unique pair of a very unique grey coloured jeans from them.

have always been a fan of high waist, straight cut jeans. When I was younger, I had so many that my mother would threaten to rip and cut my jeans and I would threated her by declaring I would wear them exactly like that! These days I wear straight- legged or skinny and accessorize it with colourful, bold print scarves. I think my jeans in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai stood out – that really was me in my college days. I am so glad I have grown up and my jeans have grown with me!
